Who is Raven Starr?

Raven Starr is Athabascan, Yup'ik, Colville, Eastern Shoshone and Ute. From birth she grew up on the Grand Ronde Indian reservation. She is an Indigenous artist who uses various mediums in her work. Her pieces are made from both traditional and modern materials. Sustainability is a big factor in her artwork as well; When using modern materials she uses natural fibers, shells, rocks, glass, etc.

Raven is fluent in Chinuk wawa and actively participates in cultural gatherings. Her work is based off of the art she's seen in her various communities and traditional practices. She currently lives in the pacific northwest and is an early childhood cultural specialist with a local Indigenous nonprofit.
